More info on Songwriting, Production and my Studio Below

My journey into sound creation started at a very young age. I performed in community theatre musicals and church productions before getting my first drum set at the age of 6. I composed my first piano piece with music and lyrics when I was 12 and played drums in my first cover show (Nirvana, Ramones and Green Day) just a year later. I started my first punk band, The Guild, at 15 writing and playing drums, and at just 16, I enrolled at Glendale Community College to study music composition and production.

I received a Bachelor of Music in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music in 2009 and since then created three solo projects ranging from pop, to folk, to EDM, graced the stage at SXSW, and collaborated as a songwriter, producer, and musician with an array of talented artists;

Songwriting has always been integral to my journey since I wrote that first song when I was 12.  I had started writing poetry even younger but putting it to melody with harmony gave my voice even more range.

I had originally decided to focus on songwriting at Berklee so I could expand on writing musical theatre shows.

Because I grew through musical theatre as a foundation, my writing spans all genres. I’ve written and produced bluegrass and country to hip-hop and EDM. Lyrically and musically, how do I find the prosody to tell the stories I want to tell? To speak life into existence.

With my co-writes, I try using the Meisner acting technique to get to that vulnerable truthful core of what it is we need to write. Part theoretic music therapy, part practical writing tool, all truthful creation.

My production uses all sorts of tools to achieve the sonic expression I hear in my head. I’ve worked with Izotope and their plugins for years and created in Ableton while fine tuning and mixing in Logic though I have training in ProTools and Digital Performer as well.

I offer personalized one-on-one songwriting and production lessons at a rate of $50/hour. Whether it’s trying to find tools to write through writers block or learning how to create those sonic textures you hear in your head.

VOICE-OVER

STUDIO

As the Covid-19 Pandemic limited much of the world, I moved to a new apartment in BedStuy, Brooklyn and took to building out and fully treating my room to take on more voice-over, audio mixing and editing work to replace the live event gigs that stopped. A space to create and imagine, the studio is open for co-writes, production, mixing, and small instrument and vocal tracking.  The perfect space to carve out a demo, mix an album, score a film or write a masterpiece.
