The Butterfly
Love is like a butterfly
It looks so beautiful
So soft, so delicate
It floats through the air
With purpose and flare
Yet could be taken by any cool breeze
We decide that we want it
So we approach it and we catch it
And we hold it in the space between
Two hands almost clasped air tight
Enough space just to know
It’s there by the taps here and there
Is it not enough to be in it?
To wait and receive it?
To see love come up and land on you
To bask in that moment
That beauty, that splendor
However long it stays feels true
And we wish we could die there
The butterfly and I
Held together by mystery
But alas sometimes the butterfly
Will leave to land again
And to know that someone else
That person you may not even know
Can share that brave same moment
And they can learn to love again
The beauty is laying in a butterfly field
Letting every one land on you
To truly know and appreciate love
Is to know that love lands on
and love chooses you.
